As part of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden’s virtual Friday Art Break program, the composer and performer Molly Joyce joined me in conversation about the intersection of disability and creativity in her practice. We discussed her work across composition, performance, and future installation(s) and our collaborative work on her recent Perspective project. This program had CART-captioning and ASL interpretation (not embedded in the YouTube video), as well as visually described slides. (December 18, 2020)

As part of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden’s virtual Talking to Our Time program, the activist artist collective the Guerrilla Girls joined me in conversation. We discussed their work, including the evolution of their projects from their 1985 founding to recent responses to issues of today, with a focus on equity in the art world (and beyond). This program had CART-captioning and ASL interpretation (not embedded in the YouTube video). (January 27, 2021)

They are standing outside of a building, two of the Guerrilla Girls lean against a wall that is half windows and half red brick. The third Guerrilla Girl stands on her own, looking off into the distance. Behind the Guerrilla Girls is a line of their posters pasted onto the windows.

As part of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden’s virtual Talking to Our Time program, the artist, author and curator Riva Lehrer joined me in conversation. Riva kicked us off with a reading from her 2020 book Golem Girl: A Memoir, sharing a career-changing moment: her first nude self-portrait. We discussed a range of topics including what it was like writing a memoir, the inherent risk and power in portraiture, queerness throughout her art, and desire. This program had CART-captioning and ASL interpretation (not embedded in the YouTube video). (April 7, 2021)
